I was born and raised in Calais, Vermont where I grew to love being outdoors, eating sugar on snow, and getting lost on back roads (which are most of them). In-between my years at high school I had the pleasure of working for VYCC, Vermont Youth Conservation Corps, where I learned how to build bridges and rock staircases as part of trail maintenance for state parks across the state. I also spent six weeks through this program restoring gravestones in yards that are now maintained through the historical society instead of the town. People were very creative with their epitaphs in the seventeen and eighteen hundreds.
I attended Wheaton College in Norton MA where I majored in Anthropology and minored in Ethnomusicology. During my four years at Wheaton I played rugby and enjoyed every minute of it. Throughout my time there I lived in the ECCO, Environmentally Conscious Community Oriented, House where eating locally produced food was one of our main objectives. Hosting community potlucks on a regular basis allowed us to cook together and appreciate food and each other's company.
My appreciation and love for food has brought me to Flour Bakery; the community that it created brings me back day after day. If I am not at work I can be found, trying to figure out songs on the guitar, cooking something new, browsing the shelves of home depot, or walking down by Wollaston beach.
